Heather Brown

CEO & Founder

Heather is a leading creative force and powerhouse PR player who has represented multiple global brands and influential clients across news, sports, and entertainment. With 20 years of experience, her leadership across strategic communications, consumer publicity, talent relations, and special events has translated to massive wins for brands such as Nickelodeon, CNN, MTV, Paramount+, BET, HBO, Dove, and Progressive.

As CEO & Founder of Pop of Color PR, a Black and Woman-owned publicity and creative consulting agency based in New York City, she provides services including media relations, talent relations, executive communications, crisis management, and celebrity/influencer marketing. Heather has delivered high impact for her diverse clientele which includes trailblazing ballerina Misty Copeland’s Life in Motion Productions, Emmy and Peabody Award-winning host/producer/comedian W. Kamau Bell, the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters, and mega brands such as HBO, Dove, and Progressive among others. She leverages her media savvy, creativity and vast network to design multifaceted, eye-catching campaigns that ‘pop’ in a crowded landscape.

Throughout her life and career, Heather has shown an unwavering commitment to championing communities of color. She has worked on a multitude of groundbreaking series and films that spotlight underrepresented communities and the issues that matter most to them. From Dora the Explorer, the preschool phenomenon which fosters an understanding and appreciation of Latino culture to United Shades of America, the culture-shifting, Emmy-winning series facilitating conversations on race and racism. In addition, she plays an integral role in driving the groundbreaking C.R.O.W.N. (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural HaIr) movement to end race-based hair discrimination nationwide. She is also changing the narrative and reducing stigma around mental wellness challenges in Black communities as Talent & PR lead for The SonRise Project, a non-profit organization founded by Kelli Richardson Lawson that provides a safe space for families to connect, share experiences, and offer support.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Heather attended Miami of Ohio where she received a BA in Journalism & Communications and earned an MS in Strategic Communications from Columbia University. Realizing a life-long dream to produce, she created, “Pedal Talk,” a talk show on two wheels that celebrates the fascinating people and rich cultural tapestry of New York City. She is an avid traveler who has visited over 20 countries, a pop culture trivia expert, and the proud mom to her rescue dog, Queso.
